Privacy policy

1. Information collected by us

We only collect aggregated statistics and usage information — nothing that can identify your device or your identity.

On installation, the Application generates a unique identifier used to collect this aggregated data. It carries no information that could identify your device or you, and is discarded (with a new one generated) if you delete and reinstall the app.

We collect this aggregated data to measure usage, improve the Application and its algorithms, and build new features. Specifically: how you use the Application (launches, time spent on different screens); aggregated statistics about your data such as number of places visited or time spent in various activities, without any underlying location information; your location at the time of installation, to understand where our users are globally; and your device type, mobile OS, and any crash errors.

This aggregated data is available only to us, used to improve the Application, and never shared with other users, partners, or third parties. The Application never accesses your address book, contacts, friends lists, logins, photos, check-ins, social lists, or other apps on your device.

2. Information the Application collects but we can't access

The Application uses GPS, Wi-Fi, cell tower, and motion technology to record your device's location and movement throughout the day. How often depends on your movement and your device's connectivity. This data stays local to your device, and is backed up to your iCloud account only if you choose to enable that. We do not collect it, and it is not accessible to us.

With enough usage, the Application may label geographic locations you visit frequently, so you can recognize them more easily. That labeling data is likewise stored only on your device (and backed up to iCloud if you request it) — we don't collect it and can't access it.

3. Children

Use of this Application by children under the age of 13 is prohibited.

4. Information provided by you

We don't collect any data you provide, and nothing you enter in the Application is accessible to us. The Application doesn't require or allow registration. It does let you label geographic locations of interest to make them easier to recognize — you can delete this data at any time, and it's stored only locally (and backed up to iCloud if requested).

5. Third parties

We don't disclose information to third parties except as described here. The Application uses the Google Maps API and MapBox API to look up nearby business names — this happens directly between your device and those providers, so we'd suggest reviewing Google's and MapBox's own privacy policies. We use the Anthropic API to power responses when you use the in-app chat feature to ask about your data, drawing on results from data filtering and search. We use Flurry Analytics to collect and store the aggregated statistics described in Section 1 — see Flurry's privacy policy for how they handle it. Any other third-party service the Application relies on comes with its own terms and privacy policy, which you're subject to by using the Application.

We will disclose data we hold where required by law — for example, to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process, or where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or others', investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

6. Merger & acquisition

If Bleat Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of its assets, we'll notify you via a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership, changes to this Policy, and any choices you may have.

7. Your opt-out rights

Since we only collect aggregated statistics that can't identify your device or you, you can stop all collection simply by uninstalling the Application — this immediately deletes all data saved on your device. Any data backed up to iCloud can be deleted by you using the steps Apple provides.

8. Security

We only collect aggregated statistics and usage information, which can't identify your device or you. We still maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards for the information we do process. No security system can prevent every possible breach, but we take this seriously.

We may revise this Policy from time to time. The current version always governs, and will always be posted at bleatinc.com. Any changes take effect as soon as they're posted, unless we state otherwise — continuing to use the Application after that means you accept the revised Policy.
